Sport has always filled my free time alongside my work. I practise yoga regularly, attend circuit training classes, go jogging, cycle, ski, hike a lot and take long walks with my family. Up until the age of 50, these activities were perfect for me, but during menopause I realised that I needed to work my muscles differently and pay much more attention to protecting my joints.
My friends suggested Pilates, and that is when a whole new world opened up for me. I noticed that during and after the exercises my joints no longer hurt. At first, I chose mat-based classes, and later I wanted to try the machines as well. This is how I found my way to Anna Decker’s studio, where I was also introduced to their own, specially developed equipment. That was the moment I knew this was what I wanted to do: to pass on this versatile, joint-friendly and safe form of movement to others.
What motivates you?
I love people. I enjoy paying attention to them, and I am curious about everything they feel and say. That is why teaching is ideal for me. And when all of this is connected to a healthy lifestyle, the joy of movement, harmony, and the Pilates method that I have grown to love, I truly feel I am in the right place. I would like to pass on this positive feeling to others as well, because I believe that our physical health has an impact on other areas of our lives too. When our bodies are in balance, so are our minds and our whole selves.
What can participants expect in your class?
I would love to see a community in my classes who come not only for the joy of movement, but also for one another. Community has enormous power. Supporting each other with a smile, encouraging one another with a light-hearted comment, with pleasant music in the background – it is very simple, yet wonderful. I aim to create a safe and supportive environment for everyone who attends my classes, as New Pilates by AD training sessions are suitable for all ages and genders.
