Since childhood, sport has been an integral part of my life. I’ve ridden horses, played tennis, acrobatic rock, wakeboarded, boxed, Trxed and I could go on and on about all the things I’ve done. A couple of years ago my friend in the Netherlands took me to a floor pilates class with a 60 plus instructor. Well, I thought I was in good shape, but there I realised that there was still room for improvement. So I looked for a place at home where I could continue doing that. I visited several Pilates classes, but Anna Newpilates by AD’s unique and forward-thinking Pilates method completely captivated me and got me hooked.
What motivates you?
As a mum of two, I now know that in our busy world we need to take time for ourselves and our health. Unfortunately, I have experienced first-hand that when this is not done, exhaustion and health problems set in. For me, Pilates has completely eliminated my back and waist pains, as well as increasing my mobility, giving me good physical strength and mentally relaxing me. My motivation is to show as many people as possible the variety and benefits of Newpilates by AD.
What can participants expect in your class?
1 hour of relaxation while pushing our limits. I incorporate torso and deep muscle strengthening and spinal mobility into every class, while also trying to keep the workouts intense and stretching comfort zones.
